Have you ever opened up your browser to start planning a Disney World vacation and before you can even get to putting in the type of hotel you want you immediately feel overwhelmed? I get it.

So many questions:
When should we go?
How long should we stay?
Where should be stay?
At Disney or nearby?
How many days of tickets do we need?
Do we need the park hopper option?
Should we do the Dining Plan?
Are the kids old enough to go?
Is Disney okay for an adults only trip?
Are the kids too old to go?
What’s a good price?
Am I going to spend a small fortune?
While we’ll get to all that information over the course of the blog, today’s focus is on the Disney World resorts and nearby hotel options.
Disney World is overwhelming. It’s about 50 square miles of hotels, theme parks, roadways, swamp lands, undeveloped plots, and simply put, it’s magic.
So where should one start? I think we should start with the hotels! There are 28 Disney-owned hotels. They are divided into four areas - Deluxe Villas, Deluxe, Moderates, and Values.

I like to describe Deluxe Villas as a home away from home. They often have amazing views of the resorts and often of the theme parks. Some of them have full kitchens, while others have kitchenettes. You can even do laundry in some of these units. These tend to be medium sized resorts with a central bus stop, maybe two.
Deluxe resorts are the plushest of plush. Amazing accesses to theme parks, lovely theming, and only the best food options. Deluxe and Deluxe Villas often share dining locations, bus stops, and themes. These themes are what really turns up the appeal of the resorts. From a rustic lodge in the Pacific Northwest to a Beach front property on the East Coast, you can even look out over the Savannah. Oh, and the pools are mini water parks to themselves! You’ll find lazy river, a “keester coaster”, and even a recreation of Old Faithful!
Moderates tend to be larger resorts with multiple bus stops. The theming is excellent. You can hang out in the Bayous or on an Island. With at least one sit-down restaurant and a quick service, these are resorts are perfect for any family on any trip. Have a family of five? Two of these resorts have rooms that cater to your family!
Values are for budget minded folks. You get whimsical theming, a food court for those quick bites on the go, and a peace of mind you aren’t breaking the bank! These fun resorts are often have one bus stop location and a couple of pools for the families to enjoy.

Some of the perks of staying on property are being able to take advantage of complimentary transportation from Orlando International Airport (not Sanford), early or late access to parks during Extra Magic Hours, transportation to and from the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. Not to mention being able to add any of the Disney Dining Plans to your theme park package, which basically makes your trip all-inclusive!
Not interested in a Disney World resort? Think of staying at Swan and Dolphin, any of the Good Neighbor Hotels in the Disney Springs area, or the new luxurious Four Seasons close to Magic Kingdom.

Best of all of this, a Jet Set Travel Planner agent can find the one right for you and your family.
